Dot Canvas is now available on Android, bringing Dot’s tactile technology experience to even more users around the world.
The free companion app for the Dot Pad tactile display, Dot Canvas makes it easy to create, explore and share tactile graphics. With the Android release, users can now connect their Dot Pad to a compatible Android device and create tactile content directly from their touchscreen.
Available through Google Play in 177 countries, Dot Canvas for Android gives more users the flexibility to access and create tactile content on the devices they already use.

Create tactile graphics in real time
With Dot Canvas, what you create on your screen can be experienced immediately on your connected Dot Pad.
Draw directly on your Android touchscreen and your work is rendered as tactile graphics on the Dot Pad in real time. You can also import images from your device and turn them into tactile content, making it easy to explore diagrams, illustrations and other visual information through touch.
Dot Canvas also connects to Dot Cloud, giving users access to a growing library of downloadable tactile content.
Whether you’re creating a classroom diagram, exploring a map, developing an accessible resource or simply experimenting with tactile graphics, you can edit, refine and test your work as you go.

Designed for a global community
Dot Canvas for Android supports 18 languages for the app interface, with the app automatically following the language selected on the user's Android device.
For braille translation, Dot Canvas supports 32 languages, which can be selected in the app's Settings. Supported languages include English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian and Welsh.
Selected languages support both Grade 1 and Grade 2 braille, giving users greater flexibility in how they read and interact with tactile content.
For Simplified Chinese, Dot Canvas also supports three input methods: Xianxing with tone, Xianxing without tone and Shuang Pin.
Built for Android
Dot Canvas for Android supports devices running Android 8.0 and later, across a broad range of Android hardware.
The app is designed for tablets and larger screens. An 8-inch or larger display with 4GB or more RAM is recommended for the best experience, and landscape orientation is recommended for the most optimised layout.
Dot Pad connects to Android devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), with support for one connected Dot Pad at a time.
A compatible Dot Pad tactile display is required to experience tactile output. Some features, including access to Dot Cloud, require an internet connection.
